Seth Surajmal Jainarain is one of the famous names in Jalan Vanshiya Bansal Gotra family from Jhunjhnu, Rajasthan. They came to Delhi and by dint of their hard and honest work they got a status in Business and Society. This family is a Vanshaj of Shri Rani Sati Dadi ji.
-
The journey of the family started when Seth Asha Ram ji s/o Seth Johrimal ji came to Delhi around 1870 and started cloth business. He got two sons namely Shri Surajmal ji and Shri Jainarain ji. Surajmal ji and Jainarain ji along with his father Asha Ram ji earned name and fame in business and society and established a firm called Seth Surajmal Jainarain around 1885 and also purchased many properties in Delhi and Mumbai.

Seth Surajmal ji was born on 27-10-1867 in the family of Seth Asha Ram ji s/o Seth Johrimal ji. During 1st World War (1914-18) by the grace of god the business was flourishing. At that time Seth Surajmal Jainarain firm was working at 5510, Katra Moti Ram, Nai Sarak, Delhi. By seeing the cruelty of war and financial crisis of people, Seth Surajmal ji was very much disturbed and he went on pilgrimage along with his family members. While returning from Bhaint Dawarka his boat stuck in tide, he at once remembered and worshiped Shri Rani Sati ji & Shri Banke Behari ji and promised to donate and devote himself for the service of the people. It was a miracle that by doing so the boat came safe out of the tides.

In pursuance of his promise he went direct to Vrindavan and made up his mind to build a huge Dharamshala and finally laid the foundation stone of Dharamshala in Patharpura, Vrindavan. Dharamshala was completed by 6-2-1925 in about 8 year’s time. Dharamshala is having about 5 open court yards and about 74 AC and non-AC Rooms where we still provide free accommodation to the pilgrims. This Dharamshala is well known as DILLI WALI DHARAMSHALA in Vrindavan. He started in Dharamshala free food (Bhandara) for Poor People, Birds & Cows.

After 4-2-1933 he felt lonely due to the death of his younger brother Seth Jainarain ji. He purchased about 14 Acres of land on 6th April 1937 in Kosi Kalan, Dist-Mathura for the maintenance of Dharamshala, Radha Raman Behari ji Temple in Sanket, Cow Shelter (Goshala), Piyau (Place of Drinking Water) in Rani Sati Temple (Jhunjhnu), and Kuruchhetra (Haryana). In order to maintain the smooth functioning of this gigantic work he established a trust namely ‘Seth Surajmal Jainarain Dharmarth Trust’ on 12-9-1941 and got it registered on 15-9-1941 in Chhata, Kosi Kalan and Income Tax also. Till 25-10-1945 he was alone looking after the Dharmarth work and was the solely owner of Seth Surajmal Jainarain Dharamshala. Due to his old age, illness and inability to work, on 16-11-1945 he formed a Trust namely ‘Seth Surajmal Jainarain Dharamshala Trust’ and handed over the management of the Dharamshala to it. Seth Surajmal ji left for his heavenly abode on 6-6-1946 leaving behind him, his well flourished family.

After the death of Seth Surajmal ji his son Seth Laxmi Narain ji (born-22-9-1887) took over the charge of Business and Dharamshala etc with his cousin Seth Hari Shankar ji s/o Seth Jainarain ji. But unfortunately Seth Laxmi Narain ji also died on 17-8-1960 and after the death of Seth Laxmi Narain ji his son Seth Sat Narain Tulsian (born 13-9-1924) joined Seth Hari Shankar ji. With the passing away of Seth Hari Shankar ji on 12.02.1964 Seth Shiv Shankar Tulsian (born on 23-10-1920) s/o Seth Jainarain ji joined Seth Sat Narain ji and took the charge of Dharamshala and other related Work. Seth Shiv Shankar ji also died on 9-10-1994 and after his death Seth Sat Narain ji alone took the charge of Dharamshala and Dharmarth Work.

After the death of his wife Smt Kesar Devi on 25-12-1993 Shri Sat Narain ji devoted his maximum time to Dharamshala.. He took the initiative to renovate it. First of all he started renovating the small Temple of 8 ft X 8 ft to a bigger one and to lay marble in place of old red stones. Till 1998 he was looking after the renovation work himself. After 1998 due to ill health and inability to look after the work he handed over the same to his 3rd son Shri Krishan Kumar Tulsian. Since then till 2003 Shri K. K. Tulsian along with his wife Smt. Uma Devi took the charge of the renovation work under the guidance of his father Shri Sat Narain ji.

On 6-2-2003 Shri Sat Narain ji left for his heavenly abode. A few days after the death of Shri Sat Narain ji Smt Uma Devi w/o Shri K. K Tulsian also expired on 18.5.2003. After the death of his wife and father Shri K. K. Tulsian became very lonely, and the renovation work came to stand still for some time. In about September 2003 Shri Brij Bhushan Tulsian (s/o Seth Hari Shankar ji and grand son of Seth Jainarain ji) inspirited and encouraged Shri K. K. Tulsian and again got started the renovation work. But look god was not so kind to us, Shri Brij Bhushan ji also left us on 30-6-2007 leaving behind Shri K. K. Tulsian alone to look after this unfached work. But this time Shri K. K. Tulsian was not disappointed, he accepted the challenge with tremendous zeal and enthusiasm and by blessing of god and his ancestors the renovation work is still going on without any hindrance.
